Our Story
The Golden Knights’ journey began in the spring of 2023 at the YMCA South branch, where two small recreational teams merged to form one complete squad. With no coaches in place, two dedicated parents stepped forward, laying the foundation for what would become much more than just a team.
That first year, the players chose the name “The Golden Devils”, which carried them through the rest of the season. In early 2024, the leadership made the thoughtful decision to rename the team “The Golden Knights”, a name chosen to represent unity, strength, and respect.
What started as a recreational soccer team soon advanced and by spring of 2024, The Golden Knights had grown enough to split into two teams, giving more players a chance to develop their skills. Later that year, the director of Farha South YMCA approached us with an opportunity — to take on a full U9 team. We accepted.
As the players grew, so did the level of competition. From recreational, to intermediate, and by winter of 2024 into advanced play, The Golden Knights FC continues to challenge itself at the highest level offered. While we may not win every game or every season, winning has never been our only purpose. Our focus is on growth, teamwork, respect, and building a love for the game that lasts far beyond the field.
In February 2025, The Golden Knights officially became The Golden Knights FC, transitioning from a single YMCA-based team into a recognized business and youth futbol club. At the end of the spring 2025 season, another coach approached us to see if we could take in some of his players who didn’t want to follow him to a new team. That moment set in motion preparations to add a fourth age group for Fall 2025.
All the while, our staff has grown alongside our players — with four additional volunteer coaches joining in less than a year — giving their time and energy to help every team receive the guidance and leadership needed to thrive.
Our growth hasn’t come from flashy marketing but from word of mouth — families sharing their experiences, players inviting friends. Even with this growth, we remain deeply connected to our roots and are proud to still call the YMCA our home, carrying forward the same values and community spirit that started our journey.
