How Our Soccer Club Story Began

The Golden Knights are a spirited soccer team born from humble beginnings at the Wichita Kansas YMCA South branch in the summer of 2023. What started as two separate “no name” teams — each struggling with a shortage of players — merged to form a cohesive unit with a shared vision. With the merger, the team gained strength in numbers and embarked on a journey fueled by passion and determination.

Our Soccer Club Story Is Rooted in Community and Growth

In the absence of formal coaching staff, two dedicated parents stepped up to fill the void — selflessly guiding and nurturing the team’s development both on and off the field. This effort laid the foundation for a tight-knit community where every player felt supported.

Toward the end of their inaugural season, the team’s players proudly chose the name The Golden Devils, a title that echoed their resilience and tenacity.

As the team matured, they made a unified decision to transition to The Golden Knights at the start of 2024 — a name that reflected their evolving identity, inclusivity, and team spirit.

Becoming an Official Club Business in 2025

In early 2025, The Golden Knights FC formally transitioned into an official business. This milestone marked a major step forward, allowing our soccer club to operate with greater structure, transparency, and long-term planning. It also opened new opportunities for facility development, funding, and community partnerships.
